Something Femimine: feel me

What I wanted is making a film that gives a real fantastic, abstract, and artistic impression with a taste of experimental video. My theme of the project is "Something Feminine".

First of all,,,I put some good amount of efforts to the sound. I combined couple of sound samples and extracted music.
Than, I shoot a video of closed up fur coats, shoes and a scarf. And there is a light effect that I made with kitchen foil.
Running time is 1 Min and 38 Sec.

A New Solution for Physical impairments

I experienced a physical impairment from the last class. As an old proverb from Korea, “There’s nothing easy to do as using my own tongue”, it was very difficult to use a vending machine without using arms. So I came up with an idea that using tongue. Why not easy as using my own tongue?

Install buttons behind tooth. These buttons interact with a remote controlled card that person can hang on their neck. What you can do with these buttons are,

1. activating Credit Card or Metro Card by using pin number,
2. and writing text that appears on the card.

Of course “hold button” is available in case of touching it by mistake.
It helps hearing impairments to communicate easier and faster.
Buttons are easy to operate.
In the case of abusing credit card or metro card, you can operate pin numbers.

Jan Svankmajer

The reason I like about Jan Svankmajer’s animation is its weirdness. I generally like his works because he has his own style over the all works that he made. I can’t exactly explain why I like this work. I guess it’s the style. There is no fascinating technology in it. It’s more classic and experimental. The way he uses his sculpting skills and drawing skills to tell the story is somewhat familiar just like I have seen it long ago in my own dream. I really can’t explain why the whole dejabu to me. I actually tried to remake one of his pieces by using different method. I used paper doll and made a cell animation by scanner. It was a good experience to think about how he came up with the idea of its expression. The story itself is amazing too. Every episode has kind of themes and issues, which are hidden behind. Sometimes I never understand but it’s still awesome. I hope you can have a chance to watch his pieces, which are available on Kim’s Video on Saint Marks.
I want to make an animation that is an homage of Jan Svankmajer but by using new tools and technology.

Working on Siren in NYC

Proposal

Noise pollution in New York City has been outrageous. Especially Fire truck and ambulance sirens, which never stop even during the mid night, make people stressed out. To solve this problem, I came up with couple of ideas.

Instead of volume down the sound of siren,

1. Use flashlight that can reach out far enough.
2. Wireless signal – Install a remote signal in fire truck so that can control the traffic sign. On traffic sign, add another signal color, such as pink light that indicates approaching emergency vehicle.
3. Install a navigation system, which shows approaching emergency vehicle and its direction so that the drivers can get out of the way the emergency vehicle towards. Make it due to install the navigation indicator.

Result
The emergency vehicle can actually alarm the people on the street, including people with hearing impairments and blind. At the same time, this plan will help reducing noise pollution in the city.

Video Shooting

Place: Madison Square Garden dog Park, Braodway shoes shop, and My apartment.
Greg couldn;t make it for the Saturday Shooting, so Terence placed his role.
It was so much fun to act on camera!!!
We planned to edit the film with music background instead of actual sound since we don't have much conversation on our movie.
